Project Unnati Boosts Uttarakhand Farmer's Income
A farmer named Surendar Singh Rawat from a small village in Uttarakhand joined a project called Unnati Apple.
This project taught him a special way of growing apples that makes the trees produce fruit faster.
Before, he had a small shop and a regular apple farm, but now he uses new methods to grow more apples in a smaller space.
His daughter Jiya helped him learn about this project.
They use special techniques that don't harm the environment and don't use chemicals.
Because of this, his farm is doing really well, and he expects to earn a lot of money this year.
Other farmers come to visit his farm to learn from him.
This shows how learning new ways of farming can help farmers earn more money and live better lives.
Surendar Singh Rawat from Chatra village, Uttarakhand, improved his income through high-density apple farming under Project Unnati Apple.
Project Unnati is supported by Anandana – The Coca-Cola India Foundation and Indo-Dutch Horticulture Technologies.
Rawat learned about the project in 2021 and adopted high-density farming, which enables fruiting in the first year.
The family adopted chemical-free and sustainable farming practices with training and continuous support.
Rawat expects to earn between ₹2.5 and ₹3 lakh from his orchard this year and plans to plant another orchard next year.
