Court Orders Charges Against Uphaar Fire Convict
A man named Sushil Ansal, who was already convicted in a big fire at a cinema called Uphaar that killed 59 people, is now in trouble again.
A court in Delhi said he should be charged because he might have lied to get a passport.
The court thinks he hid important information about criminal cases against him when he applied for the passport.
This is against the law, and the court wants to make sure he is punished for it.
Earlier, he had to pay a big fine and even went to jail for some time because of the Uphaar fire.
Now, he might have to face more legal problems for lying on his passport application.
Delhi court ordered framing of charges against Sushil Ansal for alleged procurement of passports on false information.
Ansal is a convicted individual in the 1997 Uphaar cinema fire tragedy that killed 59 people.
The court stated that Ansal induced authorities to issue a passport by concealing criminal cases pending against him.
Ansal allegedly made false declarations in passport applications in 2000, 2004, and 2013.
In 2022, a Delhi court granted Ansal relief, ordering his release from jail in a case of tampering with evidence in the Uphaar fire tragedy.
