Karnataka Implements 61-Day Fishing Ban for Monsoon Season
The government of Karnataka is stopping big fishing boats from going out to sea for two months, starting June 1.
This is because it's monsoon season, and they want to protect the fish and their homes.
Only smaller boats without big engines can still fish.
If the big boats don't follow the rules, they could get in trouble and might not get cheap fuel.
They need to be back in port by May 31, and they should listen carefully to any weather warnings.
Karnataka imposed a 61-day ban on mechanized fishing.
The ban is effective from June 1 to July 31.
Mechanized boats and those with engines over 10HP are prohibited.
Traditional/non-motorized boats and those up to 10 HP are permitted.
Violators face penalties under the Karnataka Marine Fishing Regulation Act, 1986.
