Delhi Court Acquits Man in 2019 Ice-Poker Attack Case

A Delhi court cleared Krishan Godara of trying to murder his cousin.

The case concerned an alleged ice-poker attack in October 2019.

Prosecutors said Godara attacked Sanjeev Godara at night after accusing him of having his father jailed.

They said Sanjeev was stabbed while carrying his one-year-old niece.

Sanjeev’s wife and father said they rescued him and took him to a hospital.

The judge found several problems with the evidence.

Police did not recover the weapon, collect blood-stained soil, or obtain nearby CCTV footage.

Medical records also said the injuries were simple and did not match the account of a poker going completely into the body.

Because of these doubts, the court acquitted Godara.
