West Bengal to Build Rs 1,700-crore Gangasagar Bridge
The West Bengal government is going to build a big bridge called the Gangasagar bridge.
It will be 5 kilometres long and cost about Rs 1,700 crore.
This bridge will connect Sagar Island to the mainland.
Right now, people have to take ferries, which can be slow and affected by the weather.
The bridge will make it much faster to travel, taking only 5-10 minutes instead of 45 minutes.
It will help pilgrims going to the Kapil Muni ashram and the Gangasagar Mela, which happens every January.
The bridge will also make it easier for people to get to hospitals and other places on the mainland.
The government has already chosen a company to build the bridge, and they are waiting for the Chief Minister to set a date for the start of construction.
It might take about 4 years to finish the bridge.
