Indian Markets Open Higher Despite Global Economic Pressures

Indian Markets Open Higher Despite Global Economic Pressures

Indian share prices started the day much higher.

The Sensex, a major Indian stock index, gained nearly 500 points.

This happened even though signals from other countries were mixed.

An investment strategist warned that markets may still face pressure.

One concern is that U.S. government borrowing costs are nearing 5%.

Higher oil prices are another concern.

Damage to an important Saudi oil pipeline could add to those worries.

The strategist expects a U.S. interest-rate increase of 25 basis points at the next FOMC meeting.

He said this could happen even though President Trump does not want rates to rise.
