Meghalaya Tops NE States in Regulatory Ease Index
Meghalaya has become the best state in the Northeast and hilly areas for making it easy for businesses to set up and run.
This is according to a new report by NITI Aayog.
Meghalaya scored the highest points for having clear and quick rules for businesses.
Other states like Nagaland and Tripura also did well but not as good as Meghalaya.
The report says Meghalaya needs to improve in other areas like having better roads and more resources to attract even more investments.
Meghalaya scored 8.5 in the regulatory ease category of NITI Aayog's Investment Friendliness Index (IFI).
Nagaland and Tripura followed with 8.2 points each, while Himachal Pradesh scored 7.9.
Assam and Uttarakhand shared the next position with 7.7 points.
The index evaluates regulatory frameworks for transparency, predictability, and efficiency of administrative processes.
Meghalaya was placed in the 'Emerging Performers' category in the overall IFI, indicating room for improvement in other areas.
