Juhi Chawla on KKR Uniforms and Early Struggles
Imagine you and your friends start a team for a big game.
Juhi Chawla and Shah Rukh Khan did just that with a cricket team called the Kolkata Knight Riders.
Juhi shared stories about how they decided to start the team, with lots of late-night meetings to figure everything out.
Even a famous fashion designer, Manish Malhotra, helped create their first flashy uniforms.
But the team didn't win much at first, and Juhi had a feeling the black and gold colors of the uniforms were maybe a bit unlucky.
She convinced them to change the colors, hoping it would bring better luck.
Juhi also feels it was good they didn't win right away, because winning after a struggle made the victory even sweeter.
Juhi Chawla revealed that Lalit Modi approached Shah Rukh Khan and her to own an IPL team, leading to the formation of the Kolkata Knight Riders.
Team meetings to establish KKR were frequent, lengthy, and often held at Shah Rukh Khan's residence, sometimes lasting from late night into the early morning.
Filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh, introduced by Juhi Chawla, is credited with writing the KKR theme song motto: 'Korbo, Lorbo, Jeetbo Re'.
Designer Manish Malhotra created the team's initial black and gold uniforms, which were considered stylish.
Juhi Chawla believed the black and gold uniforms had a 'bad vibe' and contributed to KKR's early losses, advocating for a color change which she felt was beneficial.
