Nepal Floods Kill 165, Wiping Out Villages Along Border

Huge floods struck villages near the border between Nepal and Tibet.

A large mass of mud and debris fell into the Lhende River and sent a powerful wave downstream.

The water swept away homes, bridges, roads and vehicles.

At least 165 people have died, and hundreds more are missing.

Many missing people were tourists from Nepal, India and other countries.

Rescue teams used aircraft and walked through thick mud to find survivors.

Officials warned that water could build up behind a blockage and cause another flood.

Heavy monsoon rains can cause floods and landslides in this region, and scientists say climate change is making extreme weather more frequent and intense.
