Maharashtra Local Body Polls Could Be Held By Year-End
Imagine Maharashtra is like a big school with lots of classrooms (municipalities).
Elections for the leaders of these classrooms were delayed.
Now, the process to get everything ready for the elections has started!
First, they need to decide how each classroom is divided (ward formation).
Then, they will decide who can be in the running for each classroom (reservations).
Finally, they will update the list of all the students eligible to vote (electoral rolls).
If all goes well, the elections could happen before the end of the year.
Different groups are deciding whether to work together or go at it alone.
Maharashtra State Election Commission has begun ward formation for local body polls.
Local body elections could be held by the end of this year.
The Supreme Court ordered the state election panel to notify the elections.
The elections were delayed due to issues including OBC reservation and ward formation.
The Mahayuti alliance and the Maha Vikas Aghadi will compete in the polls.
