GIFT Nifty Signals Shifting Indian Market Openings Amid Oil Moves

GIFT Nifty Signals Shifting Indian Market Openings Amid Oil Moves

Indian stock markets received different signals on two mornings.

On August 26, GIFT Nifty suggested that Indian shares might open higher.

This followed a sharp fall in oil prices to below $90 a barrel.

On August 27, GIFT Nifty instead pointed to a slightly lower opening.

Asian markets were mostly weak, although some US stock futures were higher on that morning.

Indian shares had risen on Tuesday but declined on Wednesday.

Investors bought shares through both foreign and domestic institutions.

Fertiliser companies performed best, while sugar companies performed worst in both reports.
