First Full Rake of Rice Arrives in Kashmir Valley via Railways
A big train with 42 wagons full of rice arrived in Kashmir.
It carried 2,600 tonnes of rice, which is like 100 big trucks.
The train came from Punjab and took less than a day to reach Kashmir.
This is the first time such a big train with food has come to Kashmir.
It helps because it's better for the environment and makes sure people have enough food.
The train line that connects Kashmir to the rest of India was finished last year.
Now, they are planning to send more things like cement and other goods on these trains.
First full rake of 2,600 tonnes of rice arrived in Kashmir Valley via Railways.
The 42-wagon train traveled from Sangrur rail terminal in Punjab to Anantnag goods shed in Kashmir.
Unloading was delayed due to snowfall but completed on Saturday.
This marks the first bulk rail-based foodgrain supply to Kashmir, with environmental benefits.
The Udhampur–Srinagar–Baramula Rail Link (USBRL) became fully operational on June 6, 2025.
