CJI Criticizes Six-Year Delay in Arbitration Council Formation

CJI Criticizes Six-Year Delay in Arbitration Council Formation

India passed a law in 2019 to create a national body for arbitration.

That body is called the Arbitration Council of India.

More than six years later, it still has not been formed.

The Chief Justice of India criticized this delay.

The remarks were made at an arbitration conference in Mumbai.

The CJI also suggested that arbitrators should publicly disclose important information.

This proposed register would involve several institutions.

The CJI also encouraged arbitration institutions to regulate themselves.
