Sewri-Worli Connector Deadline Pushed to May 2027
The Sewri-Worli connector is a road project in Mumbai.
It is meant to connect the Coastal Road with Atal Setu.
The project was expected to be finished in September 2026.
The government has now moved the deadline to May 31, 2027.
Officials said building the tall bridge supports and the double-decker road makes construction harder.
Workers also have to launch bridge sections while traffic continues on the road below.
The connector will cross railway tracks near Prabhadevi and Parel stations.
It will also replace the local Elphinstone bridge for road traffic crossing the tracks.
Maharashtra has extended the Sewri-Worli connector’s completion deadline to May 31, 2027.
The project had been expected to be completed by September 2026.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced the revised deadline at a meeting on infrastructure projects.
An MMRDA official cited the high bridge piers and double-decker design as construction challenges.
The 4.5-kilometre connector will link the Coastal Road at Worli with Atal Setu at Sewri.
