WB Govt. Questions CEO's SIR Readiness, ECI Seeks Compliance
The West Bengal government is saying that they weren't told anything about the upcoming Special Intensive Revision of the voters' list.
They are asking the person in charge of elections in the state if it's true that he told the Election Commission of India (ECI) that everything was ready.
At the same time, the ECI is asking the state for a report about some government workers who were suspended because of adding fake names to the voter list.
West Bengal government stated it received no intimation about Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
The state's Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) allegedly informed the ECI of West Bengal's readiness for SIR.
The state government requested confirmation from the CEO to verify media reports.
ECI sought a compliance report from the state chief secretary regarding suspended employees.
