Elephant Safaris Resume in Uttarakhand After 7 Years
Elephant safaris are starting again in two big parks in Uttarakhand, India, after a long break.
The government says these rides will help people, especially young ones, see animals and parts of the forest that cars can't reach.
They also think it will make money to protect the forests.
Some people might worry about the elephants, but the government believes it's a good idea.
Elephant safaris have resumed in Rajaji Tiger Reserve and are expected to start in Corbett Tiger Reserve.
The state forest department argues that the rides offer low-disturbance wildlife viewing.
The safaris are expected to generate revenue for conservation efforts.
The Chief Wildlife Warden states that elephant safaris connect the younger generation with wildlife and forest conservation.
The safaris will allow access to parts of the forest that are inaccessible to vehicles.
