Tirupati Temple Ghee Scandal Widens
A temple official, TTD Executive Engineer Subramanyam, has been arrested in connection with the ghee adulteration scandal at the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD).
This brings the total number of arrests to 10.
The scandal involves the use of adulterated ghee in the famous Tirumala laddus, with around 40% of the laddus produced between 2019 and 2024 found to contain harmful additives.
The investigation has revealed that the TTD procured ghee from several suppliers, including Bhole Baba Dairy, AR Dairy, Vaishnavi Dairy, and Malganga Dairies.
Former TTD chairman Y.V. Subba Reddy has been questioned, and his former personal assistant has been arrested.
The scandal came to light after the change in government, with the new administration revealing lab reports indicating adulteration.
