Tata Chairman Calls Air India Revival a Responsibility
The head of the Tata Group, N. Chandrasekaran, said that fixing Air India is not just about making money, but also about doing the right thing.
He talked about the problems the airline is facing, like not getting parts for planes on time and having to wait for new planes.
He also said that the aviation industry has a lot of problems, like not making much money and having to deal with rising costs.
But he believes that India's aviation market will grow a lot in the next few decades, which is a big opportunity.
The Tata Group took over Air India in 2022 and has a plan to make it better, but it's taking longer than expected because of these problems.
Despite the challenges, the Tata Group is committed to making Air India a leading global airline again.
Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran described Air India's revival as a responsibility, not just a business venture.
He highlighted challenges in the aviation industry, including low profit margins, supply-chain bottlenecks, and delays in aircraft parts and infrastructure.
Chandrasekaran emphasized the long-term opportunity ahead for Air India, citing strong growth potential in India's aviation market.
The Tata Group took over Air India and Air India Express in January 2022 and launched an ambitious five-year plan to modernize operations.
Despite hurdles, Chandrasekaran expressed the Tata Group's commitment to transforming Air India and restoring its legacy as a leading global airline.
