Supreme Court Asks for Special Courts in Manipur Violence Cases

Supreme Court Asks for Special Courts in Manipur Violence Cases

In 2023, a big conflict happened in Manipur, a state in India, and more than 200 people were hurt or lost their lives.

After that, special investigators called the CBI and the NIA started looking into what happened.

India's highest court, called the Supreme Court, is helping to make sure the investigations and trials move forward.

Recently, the judges asked the governments of Manipur and Assam to think about creating two special courts.

One court would handle CBI cases, and the other would handle NIA cases, so the trials could finish faster.

The court also wants the details of the cases to be shared with the families of the victims.

Many witnesses still need to be heard in court, which is why faster trials matter.

Judges are also checking whether almost 24,000 affected families have received help from government programs.

The court wants everyone to be safe and for justice to be done fairly.
