Pakistan Super League May Move to January 2027, Avoid IPL
The Pakistan Super League may be played in January and February 2027.
It has recently been played in April and May.
That period happens at the same time as India’s Indian Premier League.
The overlap may make it harder for the PSL to earn money from advertisements and sponsors.
Walee Technologies suggested changing the schedule.
The tournament could start in Karachi, where winter weather is milder.
It could later move to Punjab and Peshawar.
Officials also discussed esports and another tournament.
These ideas could help attract fans and create more income.
The Pakistan Super League could shift to January-February 2027 after a proposal discussed by its Governing Council.
Walee Technologies cited limited security, advertising and sponsorship revenues during the April-May window, which overlaps with the Indian Premier League.
The PSL traditionally used the February-March window after launching in 2016 but moved to April-May because of ICC events.
The proposed schedule would begin matches in Karachi before moving to Punjab and Peshawar as winter conditions improve.
Officials also discussed entering esports and staging a mid-year tournament to generate revenue and maintain the league’s visibility.
