Ashoka Buildcon suspended after fatal girder fall
Ashoka Buildcon, a construction company, was suspended for one month from bidding on National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) projects.
This happened because a big metal beam, called a girder, fell from a bridge they were building.
The company said the beam fell because a machine called a hydraulic jack broke.
The beam landed on a truck that was not supposed to be in the construction area.
The company's stock price went up a little after this news.
The incident happened on November 27 on a highway called NH-66.
Ashoka Buildcon suspended for one month from NHAI bids after a girder fall on NH-66.
The incident occurred due to the failure of a hydraulic jack, causing the girder to fall on a moving goods vehicle.
The vehicle entered a prohibited construction zone.
Ashoka Buildcon's shares ended at ₹184.10, up by ₹5.55, or 3.11%, on the BSE on November 27.
The company attributed the incident to internal seal damage in the hydraulic jack.
