NSE to Launch Pre-Open Session for F&O Segment on December 8, 2025
Starting on December 8, 2025, the stock market will have a special short period before it officially opens for trading in certain contracts.
This 'pre-open' time is from 9:00 am to 9:15 am every day.
During the first part, you can put in your buy or sell orders.
Then, the computer figures out the best price to start trading at.
This helps make sure prices are fair and trading begins smoothly.
It's for stock and index futures, but not for some other types of trades like options or distant contracts.
All the usual trading rules for pricing still apply during this time.
NSE will launch a pre-open session for equity derivatives (F&O) on December 8, 2025.
The session will be held daily from 9:00 am to 9:15 am using a call-auction format.
It covers single-stock futures and index futures, with extended coverage for next-month futures in the final five trading days before expiry.
The session includes three phases: Order Entry, Order Matching & Trade Confirmation, and a Buffer Period.
This initiative aims to enhance price discovery and ensure a smoother transition into the regular trading session.
