Nepal Releases New Rs 100 Note
Nepal has released new 100-rupee notes with a map that shows three areas—Kalapani, Lipulekh, and Limpiyadhura—as part of Nepal.
These areas are also claimed by India.
The map was updated based on a decision made by Nepal's government in 2020.
India has said before that it does not agree with Nepal's claim to these territories.
The new note has pictures of Mount Everest, Nepal's national flower, and a rhino, along with some special features to help people recognize it, like a security thread and a special dot for blind people.
Nepal and India share a long border, and these areas are near where the two countries meet.
Nepal's central bank issued new Rs 100 notes featuring a revised map including Kalapani, Lipulekh, and Limpiyadhura.
The map reflects Nepal's 2020 government decision to claim these territories, which India also claims.
India has previously reacted negatively to Nepal's territorial claims, calling it a 'unilateral act'.
The new note features Mount Everest, a watermark of Nepal's national flower, and a picture of a horned rhino.
The note includes security features like a security thread and an embossed black dot for accessibility.
