Indian Railways' Kavach System Deployment Progress Detailed
Imagine a smart system for trains called Kavach.
It's like a super helpful co-pilot that makes sure trains run safely.
If the train driver forgets to slow down or the weather is bad, Kavach will automatically apply the brakes.
The system has been tested and improved over time.
Now, version 4.0 is being installed, starting with the Mathura-Kota section.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared that the project is progressing, including laying cables, setting up towers, and putting Kavach in stations and trains.
A lot of money is being invested to make this happen, to make trains much safer.
Indian Railways is deploying the Kavach Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system to enhance train safety.
The Kavach system automatically applies brakes if the Loco Pilot fails to do so and assists during inclement weather.
The Kavach technology has been approved in its version 4.0 after extensive trials on the Mathura-Kota section.
As of July 14, 2025, 5,856 Km of Optical Fibre Cable has been laid and 4,001 Rkm of Track side equipment has been installed.
