Odisha Bandh on January 28
A group called Navnirman Krushak Sangathan (NNKS) is organizing a shutdown in Odisha on January 28 from 6 am to 2 pm.
They are protesting because they say there are problems with how rice is being bought, high fines for pollution checks, and new electricity meters installed by Tata Power.
The Congress party and the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) support this protest.
The BJP party says it's not a real farmers' movement and that the NNKS doesn't understand farming.
The BJP also says farmers are doing better now under their government.
The shutdown might cause disruptions in some parts of Odisha, but essential services like hospitals and ambulances will not be affected.
Navnirman Krushak Sangathan (NNKS) calls for an eight-hour Odisha bandh on January 28 from 6 am to 2 pm.
Protest aims to highlight issues in paddy procurement, PUCC penalties, and Tata Power's smart meters.
Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) support the bandh.
BJP dismisses the bandh as a 'fake farmers' movement,' accusing Congress of using NNKS as a proxy.
BJP claims farmers are better off under their government and the bandh will have minimal impact.
