Telangana Plans Expanded Robotic Surgery Training For Postgraduates

Telangana wants medical students to learn how to use robotic surgery technology.

The health department has proposed adding this training during the second year of postgraduate courses.

Students could train at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences and MNJ Cancer Hospital.

The training would happen during the final six months of some hospital postings.

Officials also want to gradually offer similar experience to undergraduate students.

The government plans to expand robotic surgery services to several hospitals within six months.

These hospitals include Tims, Osmania Hospital, Gandhi Hospital, Niloufer Hospital and facilities in Warangal and district headquarters.

Nizam’s Institute has already performed 1,000 robotic surgeries.

Robotic surgery expert Dr Sudhir Srivastava has offered buses equipped with simulation facilities to help train students.
