Nigeria Navy Pledges Stronger Security Against Oil Theft

Nigeria’s Navy wants to help protect the country’s oil industry.

Navy chief Vice Admiral Idi Abbas met with representatives of oil-producing companies.

They discussed protecting oil facilities, offshore equipment, and export terminals.

They also talked about stopping crude oil theft and interference with oil operations.

The companies asked for more naval patrols in dangerous sea areas.

They also wanted better security when petroleum products are moved.

Abbas said naval operations have helped reduce oil theft recently.

He said the Navy and oil companies must share information to respond to new threats.
