Suu Kyi Meets Red Cross Official Amid International Pressure

Aung San Suu Kyi, a famous political leader in Myanmar, has been kept in house arrest since a military coup in 2021.

On August 3, 2024, she met with a representative from the International Committee of the Red Cross, a humanitarian group.

The meeting was announced by the Myanmar government and shown in photos.

Suu Kyi’s son said the meeting was an important first step that could help her get better medical care and maybe be released.

Some people think the meeting is a real attempt to help her, while others believe it is a political move to make Myanmar look better to other countries.
