Woman Waits 14 Years to Tie Rakhi to Brother in Pakistan Jail
A woman named Sanghamitra has not been able to celebrate Raksha Bandhan with her brother for 14 years.
Her brother, Prasannajit, is in jail in Pakistan.
She cannot send him a Rakhi because mail service to Pakistan is stopped.
In a letter, she shared how much she misses him and that her mother also misses him and the whole family.
Her brother went missing years ago, and the family thought he was dead.
They found out in 2021 that he was alive and in a Pakistan jail.
Now, Sanghamitra is asking the government to help get her brother back home.
Sanghamitra Khobragade has been waiting 14 years to tie a Rakhi to her brother, imprisoned in Pakistan.
Her brother, Prasannajit Rangari, was taken into custody by Pakistan in October 2019.
Postal and courier services to Pakistan are suspended, preventing delivery of her Raksha Bandhan message.
Prasannajit, once a pharmacy student, was initially believed dead before being confirmed alive in 2021.
Sanghamitra is seeking government help for her brother's release.
