NTA to Implement Facial Recognition for NEET, JEE Exams from 2026
The National Testing Agency (NTA) in India is going to start using facial recognition and live photos to make sure the right people are taking important exams like NEET and JEE.
This will start in January 2026.
Students will need to take a live photo when they apply for the exam and then again at the exam center to make sure it's really them.
This is to stop people from cheating by having someone else take the exam for them.
The NTA tried this out during the NEET exam in 2025 and it worked well.
They are doing this because there have been some problems with exams being leaked and people cheating.
A special committee suggested these changes to make exams more secure.
NTA to introduce facial recognition and live photo verification for NEET and JEE exams starting January 2026.
First exam with new measures: JEE (Main) 2026, scheduled from January 21 to 30, 2026.
Candidates required to capture live photographs during the application process to ensure genuine candidates.
Pilot test conducted during NEET-UG 2025 in select Delhi centers using Aadhaar-based facial authentication.
Changes follow recommendations from the Radhakrishnan Committee to enhance exam integrity and security.
