Sonam Wangchuk Urges PM Modi For A Decriminalised Parliament

An activist named Sonam Wangchuk wants India to change the way it chooses its leaders.

He posted a message asking Prime Minister Narendra Modi to help make Parliament 'decriminalised'.

That means he wants fewer people with criminal records to become members of Parliament.

Wangchuk says almost half of India's MPs have criminal cases, and about a third face very serious charges.

He calls this a problem that makes people trust the government less.

He wants change to happen through a 'peaceful revolution', without violence.

To learn how to fix things, he is asking ordinary people to suggest honest and brave people he can talk to.

He also reminded everyone that Modi promised in 2014 to clean up politics.

Wangchuk hopes people will join him in starting what he calls India's 'second independence movement'.
