UP Government Praised for GeM Adoption in Public Procurement
Imagine the government needs to buy things, like computers or services.
Instead of doing it the old way, they use a special online store called GeM.
Uttar Pradesh, a state in India, is doing a great job using this store, buying lots of things very efficiently.
A big government official praised them for being so good at it!
GeM helps make buying things easier, faster, and more honest.
Uttar Pradesh made new rules to match GeM, so it's even easier to use.
This shows other states how to do the same thing, helping make government work better with the help of technology.
Uttar Pradesh was lauded by the Union Minister for its GeM adoption.
UP's purchases on GeM totaled Rs 65,227 crore between FY20-21 and FY24-25.
In FY24-25 alone, UP completed over 72 lakh procurement orders via GeM.
