Agra Court Grants Bail to Six Congress Workers After Protest

Agra Court Grants Bail to Six Congress Workers After Protest

Six Congress workers were arrested after a protest outside election chief Gyanesh Kumar’s home in Agra.

Police accused them of several offences, including attempted murder.

Their lawyer said police could not provide enough support in court for that serious charge, and it was dropped.

A court then granted bail to all six workers.

Each provided a surety bond of Rs 20,000.

The court also expressed displeasure about how police handled the case, according to the lawyer.

The protest was part of a nationwide Congress campaign over allegations of “vote chori.”

Congress leader Amit Singh said the party would continue its protest until Kumar resigns.

The workers are accused of writing slogans on the home’s gate and wall, an allegation described in the report.
