NMCG Drafts Small River Rejuvenation Framework
The National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) has introduced a new plan called the Small River Rejuvenation (SRR) Framework.
This plan is different from the one used for big rivers like the Ganga.
The NMCG says small rivers have different problems and need their own special care.
They want to fix these rivers by working with nature and involving local communities.
The plan includes fixing pollution, restoring natural water flow, and making sure the rivers stay healthy over time.
The NMCG is talking to experts and officials to make the plan better before it is finalized.
NMCG unveiled the draft Small River Rejuvenation (SRR) Framework.
Small rivers require a distinct approach different from large river conservation programs.
Community participation and nature-based solutions are central to the framework.
Financing will involve existing government schemes and cost-effective nature-based solutions.
Three regional consultations will be held to finalize the framework.
