Five-Year-Old Snakebite Victim Dies After Ambulance Delay

Five-year-old Diksha Thakur was bitten by a snake in her village.

Her family took her to a government hospital in Katangi, where doctors treated her first.

When she became more unwell, doctors said she should go to a larger hospital in Jabalpur.

Her family said the ambulance at the hospital could not be used because a tyre was punctured.

They said they waited about two hours for another ambulance.

Diksha died while she was being taken to the Jabalpur hospital.

No official or medical report has yet confirmed that the delay caused her death.

Police have asked a local health officer to report what happened.
