Indian arms makers held rare Russia meetings
Some big Indian companies that make weapons had meetings in Russia.
They talked about making parts for fighter jets and other military stuff together.
The Indian government wants to make more weapons in India instead of buying them from other countries.
But some people are worried because Russia is in a war with Ukraine, and working with Russia might cause problems.
Some companies said they didn't go to the meetings, but other people said they did.
The Indian government didn't say anything about it.
It's a bit confusing, but that's what happened.
Executives from top Indian arms makers, including Adani Defence and Bharat Forge, attended rare meetings in Russia to discuss potential joint ventures.
The meetings took place during an Indian defence-industrial delegation visit to Russia on October 29-30, headed by India's Defence Production Secretary Sanjeev Kumar.
Adani Group and Bharat Forge have denied that their executives attended the meetings, while Reuters stands by its reporting.
The talks discussed manufacturing spares for Mikoyan MiG-29 fighter jets and other Russian-origin air defence systems, as well as setting up production units in India.
India is seeking to reorient its defence ties with Russia towards joint research and development, but potential collaborations risk setting back plans to jointly develop Western arms.
