Revanth Reddy Seeks Centre’s Support Against El Niño Impact
Telangana’s Chief Minister met India’s Agriculture Minister in Hyderabad.
He said El Niño could bring less rain to the state.
Less rain may create problems for farms, drinking water, and electricity.
Farms may need more electricity because farmers could use more pumps for water.
The state wants farmers to grow different crops that need less water.
The Chief Minister asked the central government to help with this plan.
He also described a bonus for some paddy farmers and other farmer-support measures.
The Centre has approved two lakh rural houses, and Telangana is asking for more.
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy asked Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for help addressing the agrarian crisis linked to El Niño.
The state reported deficient rainfall, higher agricultural power consumption, and potential drinking-water and electricity pressures.
Telangana plans to encourage farmers to adopt alternative crops and requested central support for crop diversification.
Revanth Reddy highlighted a ₹500-per-quintal bonus for fine-variety paddy, a planned 250-acre international-standard produce market, and fine rice distribution to poor households.
The Centre initially allocated two lakh rural houses under PMAY-G, while Telangana requested the remaining 9.56 lakh houses from its demand for 11,56,915 homes.
