Shehbaz Sharif Raises Indus Waters Treaty at SCO
Shehbaz Sharif spoke about the Indus Waters Treaty at an SCO meeting.
This treaty deals with shared water resources.
Sharif said countries should follow agreements about shared waters.
He also said water should not be used to pressure another country politically.
Pakistan used the SCO meeting to bring wider attention to the issue.
The statement did not say that SCO members would formally mediate.
For now, Pakistan’s main request is that existing water agreements be respected.
It also wants water to remain separate from political coercion.
