UCI Director General Sees Pune as Asia's Cycling Future

Amina Lanaya, the head of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), visited Pune, India, for the Pune Grand Tour 2026.

She was very impressed with how well the event was organized and the support from the local people.

She believes that Pune and India have a bright future in cycling.

The UCI wants to make cycling as popular in India as cricket is.

They also plan to help develop young cyclists from India and other Asian countries through training centers.

Lanaya thinks that with teamwork and support, Asia can become a major player in the world of cycling, just like Rwanda did with its successful World Championships.
