Vishal Bhardwaj Recalls Gulzar's Influence on Songs
At an event in Goa, famous music composer Vishal Bhardwaj talked about how legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar helped make some of his most popular songs.
He shared stories about how Lata Mangeshkar could sing songs perfectly in just one take and how she added special meaning to the words in the songs.
Vishal also mentioned how Lata Mangeshkar turned down the offer to share credit as a composer for one of the songs, saying she wanted to be just a singer for that one.
The event was a special talk to remember Lata Mangeshkar's contributions to Indian music.
Vishal Bhardwaj discussed the creation of popular songs like 'Paani Paani Re', 'Chappa Chappa', and 'Ibn-e-Batuta' at the Annual Lata Mangeshkar Memorial Talk in Goa.
He praised Lata Mangeshkar's ability to sing songs in one take and her emphasis on specific words to add depth.
Vishal offered Lata Mangeshkar credit as a composer for 'Paani Paani Re', but she declined, preferring to be a singer only.
The event featured composers Vishal Bhardwaj and B Ajaneesh Loknath discussing their musical journeys with critic Sudhir Srinivas.
The talk was part of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa.
