AAP Skips INDIA Bloc March to Election Commission
The INDIA bloc plans to march to the Election Commission on October 6.
The march is about claims that there were problems with changes to voter lists.
AAP says it will not join that march.
AAP leader Sanjay Singh says the party is protesting separately in different places.
He said AAP is not using its party banners because it sees the issue as concerning everyone.
AAP and the DMK did not attend the meeting where the INDIA bloc planned the march.
Opposition parties have questioned how the voter-list changes were handled.
The Election Commission says its decisions about the changes were made unanimously.
AAP MP Sanjay Singh said the party would not join the INDIA bloc’s October 6 march to the Election Commission of India.
Singh said AAP was continuing its own protests at Jantar Mantar and other places, without party banners.
The INDIA bloc announced the march after a September 30 meeting attended by representatives of 19 opposition parties; AAP and the DMK were absent.
Opposition parties allege irregularities in the Election Commission’s handling of the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
The Election Commission says decisions on the SIR were unanimous; an Indian Express investigation reported that two commissioners objected to SIR decisions at least 14 times.
