Women’s Panel Urges PoSH Act Coverage for All Workplaces
Dr Rayapati Sailaja, the chairperson of the AP State Women’s Commission, had a meeting with advocates to talk about the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (PoSH) Act.
She said this law should be followed in all workplaces, including political parties and professional groups.
She mentioned that women often feel unsafe at work, and this law needs to be enforced everywhere to protect them.
The meeting discussed how to make sure the law is followed in all these places, and a report will be given to the government.
Dr Sailaja also said that more cases of sexual harassment are happening, but many women don’t report them because they are afraid or feel ashamed.
She said it’s important to take women’s safety seriously.
Dr Rayapati Sailaja emphasized the need for the PoSH Act to be implemented in all workplaces, including political parties and professional bodies.
An interaction titled ‘Sharing of Thoughts’ was organized to discuss the implementation of the PoSH Act in these sectors.
Dr Sailaja noted that women still feel insecure at workplaces, and this concern extends to political parties, bar associations, and educational institutions.
A detailed report on the enforcement of the PoSH Act will be submitted to the government.
The situation in the unorganised sector also needs to be assessed, and incidents of sexual harassment are increasing but underreported.
