Rajasthan declares 2,226 flood-hit villages scarcity-hit
Imagine a big storm that caused floods in parts of Rajasthan, a state in India.
These floods damaged farms, meaning the crops couldn't grow properly.
Because so many farms were hurt (at least 1 in 3 crops damaged), the government has said that over 2,000 villages are now facing a shortage of food and supplies, like a mini-drought.
This means the people in these villages can get special help.
Sadly, the floods also caused a lot of other damage, and many people and buildings were hurt.
The government is giving a lot of money to fix roads and schools that were broken by the water.
Rajasthan government declares 2,226 villages across five districts as scarcity-hit following monsoon floods.
Affected districts include Ajmer, Alwar, Kota, Pali, and Jhunjhunu.
Villages were declared scarcity-hit due to crop damage of 33% or more.
The declaration makes affected farmers eligible for relief and provisions.
A special allocation of Rs 1,012 Crore has been granted for repairing public properties damaged by floods.
