Major Tunnel Rescue Operations After Nepal Glacier Collapse

Major Tunnel Rescue Operations After Nepal Glacier Collapse

Rescuers in Nepal found two people alive inside a tunnel.

The tunnel was connected to a hydropower station on the Trishuli River.

They were rescued nine days after a glacier collapsed.

The collapse sent ice, rocks and mud rushing through the area.

More than 1,300 people were reported dead, while over 5,600 were missing.

The report also describes a different rescue in 2023.

In that operation, 41 workers were freed from a collapsed tunnel after 17 days.

That tunnel was part of a highway serving four Hindu pilgrimage sites in northern India.
