Trinamool Congress Accuses Election Commission
The Trinamool Congress MPs are very upset with the Election Commission.
They say that the Commission is putting too much pressure on Booth Level Officers (BLOs), which has led to some BLOs dying by suicide.
They showed a suicide note from a BLO named Rinku Tarafdar, who wrote that she wanted to live but felt forced to take her own life because of the pressure.
The Trinamool MPs want the Election Commission to be more open and share the details of their meeting.
They also want to discuss this in Parliament.
The Election Commission, however, has not said much about the deaths and has advised the MPs not to influence the BLOs.
This is a big argument between the Trinamool Congress and the Election Commission.
Trinamool Congress MPs accuse the Election Commission of causing BLO suicides due to excessive pressure from the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.
Rinku Tarafdar, a BLO, allegedly wrote in her suicide note that she wanted to live but felt forced to take her own life due to EC pressure.
Trinamool MPs demand the release of the meeting transcript, accusing the EC of lack of transparency.
The Election Commission has advised Trinamool MPs not to influence or threaten BLOs and has not released the transcript.
BLO suicides have been reported in multiple states, including West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Gujarat, and Rajasthan.
