Chandigarh Boosts Energy Efficiency in Government Buildings
Chandigarh is working to save energy in government buildings.
They've created a special team to help with this.
Last year, they made a plan to use less energy, and now they're changing old lights and air conditioners for new ones that use less power.
They're also checking how well the buildings use energy, giving them ratings like stars, with five stars being the best.
Some buildings like the Deluxe Building, which used to have two stars, now have four.
Other buildings like Paryavaran Bhawan have earned five stars for their excellent energy use.
This is all part of making Chandigarh more sustainable.
Chandigarh established an energy management cell to promote energy conservation.
A State Energy Efficiency Action Plan was approved last August by the administrator.
The Chandigarh administration replaced electrical fittings and HVAC systems in government buildings.
The SDA participated in benchmarking energy performance of government buildings.
