YSRCP condemns police crackdown on protests over DSC irregularities
In the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, there is a recruitment process called DSC to hire teachers.
Some people believe there were irregularities, or unfair practices, in how candidates were selected.
A political party called the YSR Congress Party, or YSRCP, organized peaceful protests asking for an investigation by the CBI, a central investigation agency.
The party also wants Education Minister Nara Lokesh to resign.
The police stopped the protesters, put up barricades, and detained some YSRCP leaders.
The party said police used a lathi charge, which is hitting people with sticks, during a rally in Pulivendula.
YSRCP spokesperson Y. Karthik said peaceful protest is a democratic right.
He said using police force will not make the questions about recruitment go away.
The party said it will keep demanding an impartial CBI enquiry until justice is delivered.
Despite the restrictions, the rallies continued across the state.
