IMD Issues Thunderstorm and Rain Alert Across Madhya Pradesh Districts
Weather officials have warned that storms and rain may reach many parts of Madhya Pradesh.
Some districts could receive moderate rain and lightning in the next few hours.
Other districts may get lighter rain around midnight.
Heavy rain could cause water to collect on roads.
Wet roads may also make driving dangerous.
Strong storms could damage weak buildings, trees and crops.
Power may temporarily go out in some places.
People should stay indoors during lightning and avoid trees, water and electric poles.
Drivers should avoid flooded or low-lying roads and follow weather updates.
The India Meteorological Department’s Bhopal centre issued a nowcast warning for thunderstorms, lightning and rain across multiple Madhya Pradesh districts.
Moderate thunderstorms and rain of 5–15 mm per hour are expected in districts including Chhatarpur, Panna, Katni, Singrauli, Anuppur, Mandla and Raisen.
Light thunderstorms and rain below 5 mm per hour are forecast for Bhopal, Sagar, Jabalpur, Rewa, Shahdol and other districts around midnight.
The weather office warned of waterlogging, slippery roads, traffic disruption, tree damage, power outages and possible crop damage.
Residents were advised to remain indoors during storms, avoid trees and water bodies, secure loose objects and monitor IMD updates.
