Berkshire Hathaway to Sell Over $4 Billion in VeriSign Shares
Warren Buffett's company, Berkshire Hathaway, is selling a chunk of its shares in VeriSign, a company that manages internet addresses.
They're selling about one-third of their shares to stay under a certain percentage that requires extra paperwork.
This sale is worth over $4 billion.
Berkshire has been invested in VeriSign since 2012 and was still buying more shares recently.
The sale won't give any money to VeriSign itself.
Warren Buffett, the head of Berkshire, is planning to step down as CEO at the end of the year.
Berkshire Hathaway will sell 4.3 million shares of VeriSign, reducing its stake to below 10%.
The sale is intended to avoid regulatory obligations.
VeriSign will not receive any proceeds from the sale.
Berkshire's stake was worth approximately $4.07 billion based on VeriSign's closing price.
VeriSign shares traded at less than one-sixth their current value when Berkshire initially invested.
