Novo Nordisk Partners with Emcure for Wider Semaglutide Distribution in India

Novo Nordisk Partners with Emcure for Wider Semaglutide Distribution in India

A Danish company, Novo Nordisk, is teaming up with an Indian company, Emcure Pharmaceuticals, to sell its popular weight-loss medicine, semaglutide.

They will sell it under a new name, Poviztra.

Novo Nordisk wants to make sure many more people in India can get this medicine, even in small towns and villages.

They are partnering with Emcure because Emcure has a large network of sales representatives and pharmacies across the country.

This comes as another big company, Eli Lilly, is also working to sell its weight-loss drug, Tirzepatide, in India with a different partner, Cipla.

The market for weight-loss medicines is getting very busy.

Novo Nordisk is already selling semaglutide in India with other names, but wants to increase its reach.

They promise to price the new medicine competitively.

India has a large number of people who are obese or have diabetes, making it an important market for these drugs.
